We Have Resolved All 2017/18 UTME Registration Challenges- JAMB Boss

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has put down fear over this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UMTE), stating that it has adequately addressed the challenges encountered in the process of registration for every applicant.

Reports from across the CBT Centers are indicating that the process of registration for this year’s JAMB has eased up since many applicants took the option of registering with their ATM cards, a new option made possible for the registration process by JAMB.

The development has eased off tension at the CBT Centers across the federation, in which case, most applicants who, hitherto, were not able to register have now been able to do so, using ATM cards.

JAMB, it was learnt, has started inspecting the CBT centers to ascertain their level compliance with a directive that each of them should have a minimum of 250 computer systems duly connected to a functional sever as well as a functional generating plant and CCTV within and outside the examination premises.

An officials said activities during the 2017/18 UTME from all the examination centers would be monitored at the National Headquarters of JAMB, a development he said will rule out any form of cheating during the examination.

JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede had earlier said the new innovations being introduced for conduct of 2017/18 UMTE were meant to address all manner of irregularities usually encountered during every JAMB examination, most especially cheating by students at different centers.

Oloyede had recently explained to stakeholders that JAMB has introduced a cutting-edge innovation to permanently capture the accurate data of every applicant, using their date of births, e-mail addresses and others for future references.

JAMB has also explained that the data on each applicant would remain in its system and updated from time to time, for use of every applicant from the moment they gained admission into tertiary institutions up till the time of their graduation and registration for the NYSC scheme and even for employment opportunities.

According to plan, the present crop of applicants will ultimately benefit from the captured data on them while each of them will continue to assess his or her own data at will, using only their dates of birth or e-mails as keys to unlock the information they may require.

JAMB has also disclosed that it was all out to safeguard the interest of every applicant beginning from this year by preventing multiple registration for the examination, a reason it said JAMB insisted that each applicant must submit his 10 fingers for biometrics during registration.

URGENT! 2017 UTME Registration Suspended- JAMB Boss

The Joint Admission Matriculation Board [JAMB] has suspended the ongoing 2017 UTME Examination for 52hours starting from 8pm 7TH April, 2017. This decision was to create space for CBT centres to administer Mock UTME tests scheduled for Saturday, April 8.

Normal UTME registration is expected to commence again on Monday, April 10, the registrar said.

The JAMB Boss reassured the candidates that there was no need for worry or anxiety; adding that in the next one week, eligible and interested applicants will be successfully registered, as, already, 1,000,000 applicants have successful registered.

Read Full Press Statement Below:
NO REGISTRATION SATURDAY 8TH APRIL 2017

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) wishes to again assure Nigerians especially the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) candidates and their parents that all hands are on deck to ensure the smooth conduct of this year’s UTME exercise.

We want to reiterate that the interest of the candidates is foremost to the Board and there is no need for any apprehension regarding the purchase of forms and registration for the examinations. It is our commitment as a responsive and responsible body to ensure that no willing candidate is left out and if there is a need to extend the registration deadline, the needful will be done.

Meanwhile, Saturday April 8th , 2017 has been set aside for the Mock UTME. To seamlessly achieve this, the Board has SUSPENDED all activities relating to the registration exercise in ANY CBT centre from 8pm today being Friday 7thof April, 2017 and to resume on Monday 10THof April, 2017. This is to notify the candidates and the concerned stakeholders that there will be no sale of forms, registration and biometric capturing at the various centres in which the Mock Examinations are taking place.

This however does not preclude any candidate from going to Banks, NIPOST, interswitch or Remita to procure pins for registration on Monday. This is to prevent any disruption of the process and conduct of the mock examination.

The Mock Examinations for interested candidates taking place Saturday 8th April, 2017 is intended to familiarize our candidates with the CBT systems and generally forecast the challenges that may be faced ahead in order to proactively address them. It is just a rehearsal for us and candidates who want to experience the situation to expect during the actual examinations.

Therefore, the sale of forms, registration and biometrics at CBT Centres are to be suspended from 8:00 p.m. today till Monday, April 10, 2017. This notice is for the strict adherence of our officers and partners throughout the Federation.

While wishing the candidates and officials participating in the examination a successful mock exercise, we once again re-assure the candidates that there is no need for worry or anxiety. The next one week we believe is sufficient to capture the remaining candidates as about 1,000,000 applicants have successful registered.

However, as stated earlier, no one will be left behind as the deadline may be extended if there are applicants who do not succeed at registering due to circumstances beyond their control.

The Board sincerely regrets all inconveniences and state it resolved to work tirelessly to change the fortune of education in Nigerian.

See Steps On How To Do Correction Of Data Errors After Registration, I. E (Subjects, Name, State Of Origin)

Hello Sir, I mistakenly choose a wrong subjects during JAMB Registration, The cyber cafe i registered didn't write my correct name, My JAMB Exam center was wrongly chosen, My State of Origin during the Jamb Registration was wrongly choosed, My Jamb email address was wrong or invalid and i have purchased my e-pin.

All these questions and more kept pumping to my mail, phone and social media networks, I have noticed that this year JAMB UTME registration is filled with errors, and most errors are either caused by the students or the center registrar.

The most frequent complaint i got this week is regarding to the wrong subject combination, mistakes in names and state of origin.

A Student recently complained to me that his attention was not called during his registration, the registrar went ahead and filled an incorrect subjects and submitted while he was around.

The other lady complained also that her name was wrongly written, The surname was written as the first and other names as last name.

Another complaint i received was concerning the state of origin, instead of choosing Anambra State as a boy state of origin the registrar went and choose Lagos and submitted.

The reason i decided to write on these is to draw attention of all the students who are yet to register to take caution and be on alert during his or JAMB registration to avoid any forms of mistakes or errors.

It will be recalled that before the registration of the 2017 JAMB UTME Exercise the Registrar warned all students to avoid any sort of errors during registrations there might not be any room for amendment or correction, but if there is any provision made for that there must be a penalty attached.

Now back to all those students who has made one or more mistakes my advise to you is to remain calm and wait till an official statement is made by the exam body concerning any amendments, as far as am concerned with this registration, once an application is been submitted it cannot be edited or amended unlike last year when you have to buy another scratch card to amend data this year it is not done so.

I have received complaints that most centers after deliberately making a mistake in a student data while registering will ask them to pay 2,500 for amendment which they cant guarantee them of that, thereby making the situation worst for the student.

Ads! See how to score 250+ Above in the JAMB 2017 exam here

Please do not pay any cyber authority for any correction of data as they are not licensed to change or amend any data after clicking the submit button.

I will personally update this post if there is an official process to make changes to the errors or mistakes made during registration.

As for the CBT Centers please do not extort money from students in the name of helping them correct errors whereas you know that it is not possible.

No Extension Of Deadline as 600,000 UTME Candidates Registered, - JAMB PRO

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has stated that it has so far registered 600, 000 candidates for the 2017 UTME across the country.

Fabian Benjamin, Head of Public Relations JAMB, made this known today in an interview with newsmen.

He emphasized again that JAMB will not be extending the registration deadline.

According to him, some applicants were seeking extension of the UTME registration deadline due to irregularities in the ongoing registration process but measures are on ground to ensure the regulated platform could help candidates to get registered before the end of the month and to prevent irregularities in registration.

According to him, it is wrong for any person to also think that there is inadequacy in the number of centres stipulated to register candidates for the UTME.

“There is no such delay as alleged by some candidates, the issue here is that plenty people are registering for the UTME at the same time.

Ads! See how to score 250+ Above in the JAMB 2017 exam here

“The internet is working, if it is not working how then we arrived at the total of 600, 000 that have so far been duly registered.
“Large numbers of applicants seeking to register for UTME go to the Banks allocated for the exercise that is why there seem to be some form of delays and irregularities.

“Before we used three banks and now it is 15 banks because the period is short, but we are not going to extend the registration period, before deadline every candidate will register,” he said.

JAMB Blame Banks for Delay In UTME Registration- Banks Strikes Back

The Benue State Joint Admission Matriculation Board [JAMB] Chapter has accused most commercial banks for causing delay in the ongoing 2017 UTME Registration, this was because of the difficulties encountered in their bids to register for the 2017/2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations [UTME].

The Banks accused has replied that JAMB is solely responsible for generating the Personal Identification Number (PIN), which was the main cause of the delay.

Mr Simeon Isimishere, the Operations Manager of Zenith Bank, Makurdi branch, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Friday in Makurdi that the banks were not responsible for the delays experienced by applicants seeking to register the JAMB examinations.

Isimishere expressed surprise at the allegations by Mr Samuel Umuru, Head of JAMB office in Makurdi, that the banks were responsible for the delays and confusion.

“`How can JAMB blame the banks? Generating the PINs is the main headache and that is solely handled by JAMB.
The banks only issue what has been generated and given to them, so how can one blame them?” he asked.

He said that the banks only receive the payments and issue the PINs. “The problem is that after getting the PINs, most applicants are unable to access the JAMB website.” He explained that the initial PINs that were generated by the board had issues and could not be activated. The official, however, disclosed that the banks were working with the board to resolve the issues and announced that the problems had been “brought down to the barest minimum”.

See List of The Public Universities You Can Choose As 2nd Choice During Jamb 2017 Registration

A reliable source has disclosed that candidates now have the opportunity to choose two public universities during registration. This is contrary to the earlier information that 2017 UTME candidates can only choose 1 public University and 1 private university during the registration.

We believe that the instruction earlier given by JAMB that candidates should choose only one public university was only an advise to candidates due to the fact that in many cases candidates who choose public universities as 1st and 2nd choice end up not even considered for admission by their 2nd choice universities due to the high competition in the universities they selected.

So candidates who wish to select two public universities as 1st and 2nd choice can go ahead an do so. However, the list of Public Universities you can select is VERY LIMITED. Most of the popular Universities will not even be listed, while selecting for 2nd choice. We therefore advise such candidates to ensure they select public universities that are less competitive as their 2nd choice options in order to stand a chance of being considered for admission.

So to further ensure that you make the right choice, we have provided the names of the universities that are less competitive, as earlier announced by JAMB during the 2016 Registration process. We believe this will be similar to what can be obtained as 2nd choice selection for this 2017 Registration.

The list contains Federal, State and Private universities that are less competitive. So if you wish to pick a public university as a 2nd choice, please ensure it is one of the ones on this list or any other one you know that is less competitive.

TIP: You can have 2 or 3 options as a priority list, in case you don't find one during your selection, you can take the next option.

You can also Download and print the updated
JAMB UTME 2017 Registration Form Template . This will help you.

There is no official list released by JAMB this 2017 as Universities you can choose as 2nd choice, so you'll have to make use of the attached list.

The names of the universities are contained on the attached PDF document;

The Summary of "In Dependence"JAMB New Novel For 2017/18 UTME Candidates

It is no longer news that 2017 UTME candidates will be tested on the book "In Dependence" by Sarah Ladipo Manyika.
Irrespective of your course of study or method of testing, you will be tested on this book.

The book is to be given to candidates after paying for the 2017 UTME registration.
However, for most candidates who would prefer a soft copy of the book. Here is a summary of the book based on a review by IDOKO OJABO.

SUMMARY OF THE BOOK "IN DEPENDENCE"
Tayo Ajayi, a Nigerian, and Vanessa Richardson, an English lady, had their affair boiling when it began, however as circumstances have been meant to intervene, the connection went sore and it appeared nothing may ever carry them collectively.

The book (In dependence) has characters that behaved in like-patterns, like within the case of Tayo’s pal, Yusuf, who had dated tons of white English women.
He (Yusuf) ended up marrying a Nigerian Lady as predicted (Yusuf knew what he needed and appeared to get it).

Tayo additionally ended up the identical method in as a lot as his affair with Vanessa Richardson had been gleaming, though he had been out of the error of getting a younger lady (Miriam) pregnant.
And speaking of sample, the novel’s (In dependence) starting had opened up introducing Tayo’s affair with Christine, a Nigerian Igbo woman. One would suppose that Manyika needed to finish Tayo’s relationship with Christine for the sake of bringing in Vanessa into Tayo’s life, however nonetheless, Tayo needed to find yourself marrying Miriam. And nonetheless the wedding failed, giving in to the acquainted sample.

Miriam in Manyika’s novel (In dependence) represented the breeds of the Nigerians that may all the time run away to reside overseas because of the collapsing picture of their dwelling nation.

Miriam went away together with her daughter leaving Tayo behind. In as a lot as she persuaded Tayo, he wouldn’t go. She didn’t like an inconveniencing life. She needed the perfect life for her daughter.
Tayo, on the opposite facet represented the crude breeds of Nigerians that felt dwelling was dwelling despite the fact that the nation was boiling in corruption. In as a lot because the failure of the nation stared firmly at his face with daggers, he selected to remain.
In direction of the late pages of the novel he needed to depart the nation underneath threatening circumstances towards his life from the ruling navy regime.

The complete novel is informed from the great days of Nigeria’s independence down into the nineties. I applaud Manyika’s ink, right here. In as a lot because the setting of this novel floated by way of England, Senegal, USA, and France, she was ready to make use of her third eye to attract out Nigeria’s journey into the more serious lanes of corruption, and hopelessness.

Religion is one other situation that Manyika (In dependence) handled. It didn’t matter to her if one was a Muslim or Christian.
Studying by way of this novel, one couldn’t inform if Tayo got here from a Muslim or Christian household however we did know he embraced extra of the Christian religion. She didn’t level out the difficulties of inter-religious marriages within the novel (In dependence), however centred extra on the difficulties of interracial marriage.
Throughout Tayo’s life as an element time lecturer in Sans Francisco, the creator used a scene to unbolt some deeper points of racism.

She identified the racist ties between the African American and the pure African. These points she raised apply in all places even inside Nigerians.

A Yoruba would check with an Igbo as a grasping cash monger and doubtful monster, and in flip the Igbo would check with the Yoruba as a unclean, loquacious and silly character who spend all he earns on events and alcohol. It needed to be understood that racism was one these existences that may reside for a very long time so far as misunderstanding between folks existed.

I captured traces which are coated with humour on this novel, however might be referred to as racial remarks. Younger black Yusuf got here clear in his dialog with Tayo. He mentioned white ladies have been for intercourse treats whereas black ladies have been for respectable relationships that would result in marriage. He added white lady regarded so previous when she turned thirty.

The worst racist on this e-book (In dependence) is Vanessa’s father who was a one time colonial grasp in Nigeria earlier than 1960.

He was towards Tayo marrying his daughter, and had refused to just accept Vanessa’s adopted half-cast son. He appeared extra racial towards half-casts earlier within the novel (In dependence) confronting Tayo about his fears for a half-cast grandchild. It was later understood that his hatred for the blacks was consequently of an affair his spouse had with a black man through the colonial period.

Manyika, whose image reveals she is probably half-cast, was capable of make a degree right here. She drew a distinction between being black and being a half-cast (brown). This could have been fairly a storm for her to jot down about as a result of of the racial wind towards the brown folks residing in whitely dominated areas. In distinction to a pure black nation, half-casts are seen lovely which Manyika didn’t level out. In reality within the black continent, the standard black man could really feel inferior to a half-cast.

Manyika was additionally capable of painting the polemic assault Nigerians obtain from all over the world nowadays. She didn’t carry this to print however the picture was represented, and I needed to determine it out. I can say it clouds across the ache felt every time an IELTS or TOEFL examination is required earlier than a Nigerian may research overseas. This doesn’t exclude a masters’ diploma. Does the world suppose Nigerians converse Latin or Greek or some sort of language referred to as ‘Nigerian’?
‘I said I haven’t heard you converse Nigerian,’ Joyce says.
Joyce is one of Manyika’s English characters. And I like the way in which Yusuf replies this. ‘Nobody speaks Nigerian, you daft thing,’.

A coincidence on this novel which I refuse to just accept was the scene during which Vanessa had simply come throughout one of her finest music, Hugh Maskela, a music that reminded her of Nelson Mandela and on the same day, not even up to two hours if I could rightly predict, her white husband is presenting her with ‘Long Walk to Freedom’, Nelson Mandela’s biography.
What a coincidence! I additionally don’t embrace the truth that Manyika noticed hope for Nigeria by way of the eyes of Tayo solely when Abacha died. There are nonetheless Abacha loyalists in Nigeria as we speak who will discover this offending. She ought to have saved the road in a riddle.

Vanessa did meet with Tayo on the finish of the novel, nevertheless it was laborious to foretell if in any respect a love relationship was ignited between them. Vanessa was nonetheless married, however Tayo wasn’t. Manyika maintained a non-adulterous plight between the 2 right here. The happy-ending-formula which most romance writers adapt was by some means blurring within the novel.
